What this tool does
- Start, length, frame rate and width are yours to set, and the screen says how many frames will be taken before you launch.
- The palette is computed FOR EACH FRAME: a single palette for the whole clip would be lighter and far uglier as soon as a scene changes its dominant colour.
- The number of frames is capped, and it is said: a hundred and fifty frames already make a file few messaging apps accept.
- The GIF is written by hand in the browser, with no library loaded from anywhere else.
What it does not do: A GIF holds at most 256 colours per frame: that reduction is a LOSS, and it is the only one on this site we add on purpose — a GIF is a GIF. No partial transparency either. This tool needs a recent browser (WebCodecs): Firefox for Android does not have it, and the screen says so on drop rather than after a minute of work.
Nothing is uploaded. Cut your network connection once this page has loaded: the tool keeps working. How to check it yourself.
The other tools
- Merge PDFs: Several files, one document, in the order you decide.
- Organize pages: Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate: the whole plan.
- Extract pages: Pick pages, take them out into a document of their own.
- Delete pages: Remove pages while looking at them, and they do not survive under the file you get.
