What this tool does
- PDFs, but also photos and scans: an image becomes a page like any other.
- Every page is shown as a thumbnail: you see what you are assembling.
- The file you get is rebuilt page by page: nothing of the old one stays underneath.
- A table of contents is written into the document: one entry per file brought together, at the page where it starts.
What it does not do: A password-protected PDF opens with its own password, which you are asked for when you drop it. Nothing is broken: one attempt is made, the one you type, and never the owner password, which only lifts printing restrictions.

The other tools
- Organize pages: Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate: the whole plan.
- Extract pages: Pick pages, take them out into a document of their own.
- Delete pages: Remove pages while looking at them; they are not left under the file you get.
- Rotate pages: An upside-down scan set straight: one page, or the whole document.
