What this tool does
- Every file you drop is handled on its own and keeps its name. One that already fits under the weight you asked for comes back whole.
- The parts are named after the pages they carry: report-page001-page050.pdf, then page051-page089.
- The weight is MEASURED on the assembled document, never estimated: two pages sharing a font do not cost the sum of their weights.
- Each part is an ordinary, complete PDF that opens with a double-click. That is the difference with volume-splitting, where you need every part.
- Past one file produced, everything goes into a ZIP archive.
What it does not do: Splitting is not shrinking, and a page is never cut in two. A page that on its own exceeds the weight you asked for goes into its own part, and the screen says so. For a document whose images are what weigh, “Shrink a PDF” comes first.
Nothing is uploaded. Cut your network connection once this page has loaded: the tool keeps working. How to check it yourself.
The other tools
- Merge PDFs: Several files, one document, in the order you decide.
- Organize pages: Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate: the whole plan.
- Extract pages: Pick pages, take them out into a document of their own.
- Delete pages: Remove pages while looking at them; they are not left under the file you get.
