Rotate an image: straighten a photo taken sideways

What this tool does

• Quarter turns, both ways, image by image or the whole batch at once.
• THE ROTATION IS WRITTEN INTO THE PIXELS, not into the EXIF orientation tag, which is why it holds in every program, including those that ignore the tag.
• Immediate preview: you see the result before saving.
• The original format and quality are kept.
• The rest of the EXIF metadata goes with it: not the camera, not the date, not the place.

What it does not do: Rotation goes through a re-encoding of the image: on a JPEG that costs a little quality, where some programs can rotate “losslessly” by transforming the stream. That gain would need a JPEG encoder written by hand, that is, one more dependency in a product that has only three. Only quarter turns are offered: straightening a scan by three degrees would require a crop and an interpolation, so two more decisions taken blind.
