What this tool does
- What the file says is SHOWN before it is removed: date, device, software, comment, and the coordinates of the place when they are there.
- The cleaning RE-ENCODES NOTHING and does not move a single byte: the metadata box is neutralised in place, picture and sound stay identical to the bit.
- The creation and modification dates go to zero — the hour at which you were filming is data like any other.
- The output file is exactly the same size as the input, and opens in the same players.
What it does not do: This is not anonymisation: the content of the picture itself is untouched — a street sign is still a street sign, and a face is still a face. We remove what is WRITTEN in the file, not what was filmed. MP4, M4V and MOV files are read; MKV, AVI and WebM are not.
