What this tool does
- GPS position, camera, serial number, date, software: removed from the file, not hidden.
- NO RE-ENCODING: the bytes of the image are copied as they are. The cleaned photo is the original photo, only lighter, and a test proves it at every release.
- What stays, and we own up to it: the display header and the colour profile. Removing them would change the colours or the print size, which cleaning has no business doing.
- Several images at once: past one, everything leaves in a ZIP archive.
- You are told what was removed, block by block, and how many bytes went.
What it does not do: Cleaning removes the STANDARDIZED metadata blocks of a JPEG or a PNG. This is not anonymity: a photo stays recognizable, sensor noise can identify a camera, and a face or a number plate stay readable. For those, you need to redact. RAW and HEIC files are not handled here.
