Turn a photo to grayscale, scanner style

What this tool does

• Three renderings: plain grayscale, scan, heavy scan, then two sliders if none of them fits.
• Grayscale is weighted the way the eye sees: an average of the three channels would leave faces a dirty grey.
• A grayscale document often weighs far less than a colour one, at equal reading quality.
• You can raise the contrast WITHOUT going to grayscale: the box unticks.
• Several images at once: past one, everything leaves in a ZIP archive.

What it does not do: This tool changes the TONES, nothing else: it does not straighten a page shot crooked, does not detect its edges and does not erase a cast shadow. Those three need edge detection that a model would fetch from a third party, which is exactly what this site forbids itself. And contrast pushed too far makes the palest strokes disappear: a faint stamp, a pencil signature.
