What this tool does
- The colour profile is written by us, not borrowed: two and a half kilobytes of sRGB whose contents we know.
- The file identifier is the fingerprint of its content, so it is the same every time: two archivings of the same document give the same file, byte for byte.
- The two copies of the metadata are brought into agreement. A title written on one side and not the other is a non-conformance in its own right, and the most common gap.
- A type label put on a font file where it has no business being is removed, without touching a byte of the font.
- The declaration is written ONLY if nothing stands in the way. Otherwise the document comes back improved, and the screen says what is missing.
What it does not do: A font that is not in the document cannot be put into it: it would have to be replaced by another one, at the same widths, which moves the text and changes what the page shows. That is the most common blocker, and it covers the fourteen standard PDF fonts too: a document in Helvetica displays everywhere, and is not archivable for all that. We declare part 3, level B: level A requires a structure tree describing how the document reads, and we do not fabricate tags. Finally, this is not a certification: our check covers the conditions that cause most rejections, not the hundred and fifty or so rules of the standard.
Nothing is uploaded. Cut your network connection once this page has loaded: the tool keeps working. How to check it yourself.
The other tools
- Merge PDFs: Several files, one document, in the order you decide.
- Organize pages: Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate: the whole plan.
- Extract pages: Pick pages, take them out into a document of their own.
- Delete pages: Remove pages while looking at them; they are not left under the file you get.
