Compress a PDF without ruining its text

What weighs in a PDF is the images: a 600 dpi scan nobody asked to keep that large. We resize them and re-encode them, and nothing else.

What this tool does

Text stays text: nothing is ever rasterized, so the document remains selectable and searchable.
Small images (logos, letterheads, signatures) are left alone.
The report says what was left alone, and why: transparency, CMYK, JPEG 2000, fax.

What it does not do: A PDF without images will not get lighter: its text is already compressed, and the services that promise “90% smaller” on such a file turn it into images without saying so.
