What this tool does
- Pages are matched by RESEMBLANCE, not by rank: a page inserted at the front does not make everything after it look rewritten.
- The word-by-word view shows the smallest set of words that explains how one text became the other: an added comma stays an added comma.
- Unchanged text is tightened around each change: you are looking for what moved, not for something to reread.
- The report saves as plain text, with removed words as “-” and added ones as “+”, the kind you paste into an email.
- This is the tool where uploading costs the most: sending BOTH versions of a document means handing over the negotiation itself. Here, neither one leaves.
What it does not do: This tool compares the TEXT, and nothing else: not the images, not the layout, not the colours, not tables as tables. A scanned document carries no extractable text: two scans therefore compare like two empty pages, and the screen says so rather than announcing two identical documents. On two pages that no longer have anything in common, the comparison gives up on word-by-word and reports a rewritten page: a screen entirely red and green teaches nothing.
Nothing is uploaded. Cut your network connection once this page has loaded: the tool keeps working. How to check it yourself.
The other tools
- Merge PDFs : Several files, one document, in the order you decide.
- Organize pages : Reorder, rotate, delete, duplicate: the whole plan.
- Extract pages : Pick pages, take them out into a document of their own.
- Delete pages : Remove pages while looking at them, and they do not survive under the file you get.
